Chania is Crete’s most popular city to visit, with its pretty Venetian quarter crisscrossed by narrow lanes and culminating at a magnificent harbor. Remnants of Venetian and Turkish architecture abound, with old townhouses now transformed into atmospheric restaurants and boutique hotels.

The old town is mostly pedestrianized and very busy during the summer months. Chania is a “cosmopolitan” city, very popular with Greek tourists especially in August. The old town is well maintained and worth the long walks in the small alleys and pebble streets. Soon, you will be lost and feel like there is no one else in town.
