A beautiful traditional Cretan village. Evidence of its ancient history and settlements is throughout the village and its narrow, winding lanes and streets. From the mulberry trees planted around the village by the Turks, to the Byzantine wells and Roman tombs on the outskirts of the village and the Venetian arches of the old olive factory. The small, but, excellent folklore museum is housed in a Venetian building with Turkish additions. It gives a fine history of the village and its culture. A fascinating insight into agricultural ways and lives of the past. There is a bakery and mini-markets and several good tavernas.
