Kalyves

Kalyves is a beach resort and yet still an agricultural market centre. It is a working village, where irrespective of tourism, village life goes on. There are two main beaches; the quieter one at the western end of the village (opposite the SYNKA supermarket) and the busier one at the harbour end. On foot it is nice to explore the quaint ‘old’ part, with its narrow lanes leading off from opposite the large church in the square. Another place to explore is Koumos (which is the name for the old, round, stone shepherd huts) This is one man’s delightful folly; where you can marvel at the stone statues and mosaics and wood creations. Kalyves has a good selection of shops, tavernas, chemists and a Medical Centre (both doctors speak English). Banks, Post Office and markets.
